Bronze, charcoal, black and dark red scarves: black fringes.<\/p>\n

It is one of the specialties of Artisans Angkor and it has been woven with a technique called Lboeuk\u00a0<\/span>weaving pattern <\/strong>(or \u201cdiamond shape\u201d):<\/span>\u00a0silk brocade<\/span>\u00a0characterized<\/span>\u00a0by a contrast<\/span>\u00a0in brightness between<\/span>\u00a0the background and the<\/span>\u00a0diamond\u00a0pattern formed by<\/span>\u00a0weaving.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lboeuk<\/strong>\u00a0(or \u201cdiamond shape\u201d) is one of the most famous traditional Khmer patterns, particularly refined and sophisticated. It is often seen on people scarves and garments during official and religious ceremonies, weddings and so on\u2026 It is incredibly representative of\u00a0traditions<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0cultural heritage<\/strong>\u00a0of Cambodia.<\/p>\n

The finish along the length of the scarf is the edge of the fabric (as opposed to a hem), which implies that the craftswoman is only weaving one scarf at a time on the loom. This scarf has fringes across the width.[\/vc_column_text]

Silk is a natural<\/strong><\/span> and renewable material<\/span><\/strong>, biodegradable<\/span><\/strong> and less polluting to produce<\/strong><\/span> (source: Guide du v\u00eatement responsable - 2008, \u00c9quiterre<\/a>). In addition, it is fair trade <\/span><\/strong>because it is handmade according to an ancestral know-how by the artisans of a cooperative<\/strong><\/span>, and among them, have social policy<\/span><\/strong> and decent working conditions<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Additionally, natural or dyes that don't contain heavy metals<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0are used; they are less damaging to artisans and the environment <\/span><\/strong>and therefore eco-friendly <\/span><\/strong>while promoting sustainable development.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n

Over the years, Artisans Angkor <\/strong>has become a showcase of Cambodian craftsmanship for its silks worthy of the Silk Road!<\/p>\n

Artisans Angkor has pioneered a new social policy in Cambodia, guaranteeing a fair income as well as social and medical welfare to all its employees. The artisans themselves formed an association that holds a 20-percent share in the company.<\/p>\n
